Adamstown

Adamstown

Overview

Adamstown (Irish: Baile Adaim) is a purpose-built new town approximately 16 km west of Dublin’s city centre. Planned around 2005 on a large Strategic Development Zone site near Lucan, it was designed to accommodate up to 25,000 residents with schools, parks, and transport links. Today, it has over 10,000 residents, including many international families, and continues to grow with new developments and amenities.

Transport & Layout

The town was designed around walkable neighbourhoods, cycling routes, and public transport access. It is anchored by its own train station and multiple bus routes, making it attractive for commuters, though local transport and healthcare access remain areas for improvement.

Community & Amenities

Adamstown features cafés, supermarkets, schools, and recreational facilities all within walking distance. With a young and diverse population, it is steadily building a sense of community as more infrastructure and services are delivered.

Why Visit or Settle

Adamstown offers modern living in a growing suburban community. It appeals to families and commuters seeking newer housing and a quieter pace of life without straying too far from Dublin city.
